The Art of Social Media Marketing when you’re Social Distancing
Wow. Wow. Wow. What a way to begin a blog! Here at Tabbed Creative we’ve been hammering away at project after project and working towards building new relationships with clients - but while we’ve been busy little bees, it seems the world has been turned upside down! That’s ok though! This is the perfect opportunity to present you with our brand new blog where we will talk about everything from ongoing projects, online marketing, social media management, graphic design and building your online brand. Phew! That’s a lot, so let’s get started.
Most people assume that social media is just the basic platform for sharing posts, pictures of everyday life, or funny memes. Which is true, it is! However, for many businesses, social media is also their bread and butter. I’m not talking about “Instagram Influencers” or gimmicky entrepreneurs trying to sell you their secrets of success. I’m talking about the everyday brick and mortar business.
At Tabbed Creative, we work with businesses of all shapes and sizes. Everything from non-profits and multi-million dollar companies, to local mom & pop shops and real estate agents. Because of the broad scope of what we do, we’re able to tell you without a single doubt that social media is what keeps these businesses afloat. Yes, even the multi-million dollar ones. Why? Because in a world where social distancing is now the new catchphrase, social media is their lifeline.
So how do they do it? Or should I say, how do WE do it? It’s very simple really.
Create an engaged and active audience through personal and informed posts. An engaged audience is a buying audience.
Engagement is really the name of the game. Social selling in today's world is the equivalent of a door to door salesman. No one likes a salesy or “pitchy” post. What people want is to be:
A) informed and B) have trust in your business. You create this trust by showcasing your knowledge, attentiveness and care for your customers. It’s really that simple.
So, what are some ways you can create an engaged audience in the world of social distancing? Here are a few ideas:
Ensure you understand your audience’s concerns. If your brick & mortar business relies on customer walk-ins, do what you can to limit the contact. Show that you’re willing to make the necessary changes to keep them and your business safe.
Share content that is only relevant to your business. Regardless of your personal opinions, your audience will only want to follow you for what THEY need. Keep your posts professional and lighthearted.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Customers love to give feedback and tell you what they need. If you’re struggling with how to operate your business simply ask “How can we serve you?” Polls & Surveys are a great way to gauge your audience’s responses and encourage them to interact.
We hope these tips will help you as you navigate your way through the social media and business world during these extraordinary times. As always, we’re here to help!
